Residents Winter League (4)

Resident golfers should note that the new starting date for the winter league is now Sunday 14th. January. Each round will take place every Sunday until March 11th., when we will know the identity of our league champions. For new readers, the Winter League has been devised especially for golfers who live and work on the coast the year round and who are rarely able to play during the winter high season, when green fees are at their highest. The object is to take advantage of the new mid-season, when many courses are offering substantially reduced green fees.

The format will be teams of four, playing nine stableford rounds, all four scores counting each week. The best 8 scores from the 9 rounds played will decide the league champions, who will win a three night stay in 4* accommodation for four people on Portugal’s Algarve, with 2 rounds of golf thrown in.

There will be an end-of-season prize giving dinner on Wednesday, 14th. March at the popular Crumps restaurant in Fuengirola. Each team can register four players and one reserve, the entry fee being 20€ per team member, which will include the prize giving dinner. Entries from bars, societies and businesses are welcome, although individuals can make up a team. There will be weekly prizes, including nearest the pin and longest drive. This year’s “Christmas Special” will be played at the popular Calanova Golf Club on Friday, 15th. December. The first start time will be 11:00, with entries limited to 36. The event will be followed by a presentation dinner at Crumps Restaurant in the evening. The whole package, including golf, shared buggy and dinner, will be only 75€. Prizes will include magnificent Christmas hampers (1st., 2nd. & 3rd.), plus prizes for nearest the pin & longest drive. To enter, call 952 582 943
