FOURTEEN YEARS OF COMPETITIONS
Posted April 10th, 2009 by adminIn April 1995, Golf Leisure Breaks organised its first stableford competition. The company was feeling its way into the unexplored territory of golf tourism and was the first locally based golf tour operator. The initial aim was to provide visiting golfers with the opportunity to meet and compete with each other in a friendly environment, at the same time introducing them to the services which the company could offer, i.e. arranging a complete golf holiday package – flights, car hire, accommodation and pre-booked golf. As the number of competitions increased, they took on a life of their own, with many tourists basing their winter break around the daily meetings. Four thousand competitions later, despite the proliferation of locally based golf societies, we still meet friends from G.B. and Europe who played in our very first stableford competition, as well as relative newcomers who have now chosen the Costa del Sol as their home.
Consequently, the competitions enjoy a unique international flavour, often featuring players from Germany, France, Scandinavia and Italy, as well as Ireland and Great Britain. Resident golfers who may like the idea of meeting new faces are welcome to join us, membership of our society being free and including greatly reduced green fees. The core venues for the competitions are Sta. Maria (Mondays), La Noria (Tuesdays), Parador (Wednesdays) and Calanova (Fridays). Why not call us now on 952 582 943?
