Each week during the next few months, about 100 resident and visiting golfers will be taking part in our daily stableford competitions. We also arrange special annual tournaments, such as the Andalucía Golf Classic (see advert on this page). At least as many others, who booked their golf holiday with us, will be playing at various courses up and down the coast each week. They all have one thing in common. When the round of golf is finished, they will be looking forward to enjoying a good evening meal. Winners of our competitions will receive (among other prizes) an invitation to dine at a quality restaurant, with a value of up to 50 euros. There are two objectives to this policy. One is to offer a worthwhile prize to our golfers, one which they can use during their stay on the coast; the other is to ensure that they discover excellent restaurants which they may not find otherwise, thus ensuring that our sponsors will be guaranteed new clients every week. In return for their generosity in providing these prizes, we recommend their establishments to all our clients. Some of our sponsoring restau-rants have been providing these prizes for many years – The Orange Tree in Marbella, Villa Paradiso in Calahonda and Rajdoot in Fuengirola, to name but a few. They have continued for so long because they know it is a very successful and economic way of marketing to golfers, who often turn up in groups of 8 or more.

But golfers on holiday seek much more than food and drink while they are here. Many will want to buy golf accessories and clothing, or gifts to take home to considerate wives and partners who allow them to be here in the first place. Some may even be seriously contemplating the purchase of an apartment or villa for their retirement and will want to know which real estate agent to talk to. Sponsorship through golf prizes not only targets a tight market audience, but is the most cost-effective medium available.
