EUROPEAN SENIORS COME TO LA QUINTA
Posted October 9th, 2009 by adminFrom Friday 16th October, local golfers will have the opportunity to watch some of the best European players from another era play their wares over the La Quinta course. Sure to be turning out will be Manuel Piñero, a true gentleman who preceeded Ballesteros in putting Spanish golf on the international map. Manuel designed the most recent of the three 9-hole loops at La Quinta, so expect him to feature prominently on the Sunday. These seasoned golfers play for their love of the game, certainly not for the money. The purse is a mere 180,000 euros, which is what the winner of an average Champions Tour event on the other side of the Atlantic would expect to win. Yet the standard of golf produced by our own senior professionals is up there with their American rivals. Access to the La Quinta Club is from the San Pedro exit from the AP7 toll road, or from the A7 highway, turning north on the road to Ronda. More details from La Quinta, tel: 952 762 390.
