A QUIET CHRISTMAS

An eerie silence has descended on most of the coast’s golf courses during the past few weeks, clearly due
to the effects of the global recession and despite unprecedented low green fees. Those clubs which have had the foresight to attract members at affordable fees will at least find it possible to tick over and pay staff wages. However, despite the paucity of golf tourists, Golf Leisure Breaks are continuing with their popular annual Christmas hamper competition which this year will be hosted by the Calanova Golf Club on Friday 18th December. As usual, prizes will include a hamper or two of Christmas goodies, but less usually, the day will be completed with a special Hog Roast dinner at the beautiful Vista del Mar restaurant at Miraflores Beach, which will include not only presentation of prizes but also Christmas carols, to capture the spirit of Christmas. The whole day, including golf, shared buggy and the evening dinner, will set you back a mere 68 € (65 € for society members).
