CHRISTMAS MESSAGE TO THE COSTA’S GOLF CLUBS

The gravity of the effects of the current economic climate on golf tourism here on the coast are now so clear that I worry for the whole industry and those who rely on it. Those who are now so desparate that they are offering golf for as little as 15 euros are having to deal with a dire situation of their own makin – long before the term “global recession” was coined. As long ago as the beginning of this decade, I was warning golf administrators of the growing resentment by golf tourists of the spiralling cost of playing golf on the Costa del Golf. Perhaps the “Costa del Greed” would have been more appropriate.
