RAIN RAIN, GO AWAY….
Posted January 15th, 2010 by adminPractically no rain for a whole year has caused more than enough problems for greenkeepers along the coast, but too much too quickly, brings its own problems. Bunkers ruined faster than they can be repaired; grass too wet to be cut; soggy, slow greens – the last two weeks have been difficult for green staff and golfers alike. Many of us have been able to get in a round or two between downpours and should count ourselves lucky, rather than complain about the condition of some of the golf courses. In the longer term, the recent monsoon weather will prove to be a blessing, enabling the courses to be restored to perfect condition, with the help of a little sunshine. So be patient and spare a thought for the beleaguered greenkeepers, whose efforts are the reason that courses can open at all.
