One down three to go

THE European Tour road show returns to Spanish soil from April 29 – May 02 when the Spanish Open will be held at the ‘Real Club de Sevilla.’ Let´s hope that it will prove to be as successful as the recent ‘Open de Andalucia’ at the Parador which, given the inclement weather the course had suffered during recent months, can safely be regarded as an unqualified success.

Luckily, the sun shone and this, coupled with reasonably priced admission, meant that fans came to watch their favourite golfers in their droves. All credit to Miguel Angel Jimenez and his team at ‘Fade Draw Target’ for firmly putting Andalucia back on the sporting calendar. For those who aren’t familiar with the Seville course it is flat and underwent some minor changes by the original designer, Jose Maria Olazabal, to cater for the World Cup a couple of years back. Admission to the event is free on the practice days from Monday to Wednesday; Thursday to Sunday day ticket 12euro or a season ticket for 30euro. It can be reached by good motorway access in a couple of hours from either Malaga or Cadiz although the most direct route is via Ronda on the A-376 road. Why not take advantage of the course whilst it is in optimum condition and play a round before the tournament? The normal midweek green fee price is 105euro However, there is a special April deal for only 70euro and, for the first four bookings received, a free season ticket to the Spanish Open is up for grabs (one season ticket per group booking irrespective of size when reserving through Golf Leisure Breaks).

Don’t fancy travelling there and back to Seville on the same day? Then kill two birds with one stone and enjoy a short golfing break to Huelva. Two nights’ Half Board accommodation at the 4* Hotel Tierra Mar located on Matalascañas beach plus one green fee at ‘Golf Dunas de Doñana’ for only 99euro per person or 104euro at weekends. Valid for two persons sharing twin or double room (land views) throughout April.
