Andalucian Golf

As the 3 day event began with a get-together on Thursday evening at the splendid Vista del Mar bar/restaurant, the entry was somewhat depleted by travel problems, caused directly or indirectly by a certain volcano and uncooperative winds. Never-the-less, the organizers decided to continue with the event and thanks are due to Manuel at Calanova, Salvador at Santana and Domingo at El Chaparral as hosts for the three days,     for their understanding and acceptance of the decrease in numbers. Special thanks are also due to the following sponsors, who so generously donated valuable prizes: Sierra Park Club – one weeks’ holiday accommodation for two at their resort in Nueva Andalucia: Gary Little – one week’s holiday accommodation in a luxury 2 bed apartment in Calahonda: Calanova G.C., Santana G.C., El Chaparral G.C., Sta. Maria G.C., Marbella G.C., Flamingos G.C., – all 2 green fees with buggy: Royal Málaga G.C., Estepona G.C., each 2 green fees, El Paraiso G.C.- 1 green fee: Vista del Mar Restaurant, The Orange Tree Restaurant, Villa Paradiso Restaurant, Rajdoot Restaurant – all dinner for two.

Last but not least, the Tamisa Hotel restaurant – Sunday lunch for two.  The depleted entry and the generosity of so many sponsors means surplus prizes, which will be auctioned during the prize-giving dinner at the El Chaparral club, all proceeds to be donated to Cudeca, the cancer hospice in Benalmadena.

This year’s Andalucia Golf Classic is just the first of what is intended to be an annual event. Next year’s tournament will be announced in plenty of time, but entries can be accepted now – just call Julie or Paul on 952 582 943.
