Spain announces new driving test for golfers
Posted June 4th, 2010 by adminSpanish golfers may be issued with a new driving licence in 2010. Don’t worry as this refers to those who ride the new fleet of Segways vehicles at Lauro Golf. You may have already seen them being ridden by staff in the IKEA car park? These are two-wheeled vehicles which run on batteries. Furthermore, the four at Lauro have been specially adapted to hold a golf bag securely in place. Testimonies by golfers have pointed to the fact that it is a fun way to play the course; as well as the added benefit of gaining a better view of the lay of the land. Since the tyres are low pressure drive safely in the knowledge that you are contributing to the maintenance of the course, whilst keeping the fairways in pristine condition. From a safety perspective the tyres are wide enough to provide more than adequate traction on slopes, its unique ‘dynamic stability control closed loop,’ allowing mobility and letting one slide in the speed and direction required. Being lightweight the ’90 degree rule’ nor ‘buggies on paths only’ signs do not apply as Segways can cover every blade of grass. In fact, the only ‘out of bounds’ is the green itself. Prior to using one golfers are required to take an on site practical course at Lauro Golf lasting about half an hour. The licence is subsequently valid worlwide.
